The Community Schools of Frankfort uses the Indiana Academic College and Career Readiness standards as the basis for all grade-level curriculum development. These standards indicate minimum expectations of mastery for all grades and can be found by clicking on the Indiana State Standards link located on this page. 

CSF uses a variety of resources for curriculum development, and routinely updates and adjusts these resources to meet the needs of our students. Committees of teachers, administrators, and other stakeholders meet to select resources to use for instruction. Some of them are listed below.

Orton Gillingham Word Study Approach (K-2)

CSF believes in a balanced assessment system, and relies upon both locally-created assessments and nationally-normed assessments to create an accurate picture of each learner. In grades K-5, students are given the Scholastic Next Steps in Guided Reading Assessment a minimum of three times/year in order to track their reading behaviors over time. All students take the NWEA MAP assessment in grades K-12 to measure what students know, what they are ready to learn next, and how to best set and chart goals for growth over time, in math and reading. Students also have a series of required state assessments that they take in the spring of each school year. More detailed information will be provided on this page soon.

Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards

 

CSF utilizes federal funding to support all students. Academic interventionists are in each building as additional resources for math and literacy learning. Kindergarten interventionists make sure our students start their school career with a strong foundation. Project Excel interventionists at FMS and FHS ensure that each students is pushed to their greatest ability, making sure that students have every resource possible. We know that early success in high school is critical to graduation!

 

Student learning is our focus and instructional coaches help our teachers as we keep a close eye on student success. This year, coaches will work in kindergarten and first grade to ensure our students are foundationally ready for their school careers. We want all students to be readers and writers from the start!

District Dyslexia Data

CSF utilizes Orton Gillingham as our official intervention for students at risk of dyslexia. Teachers are trained through the Reading Clinic of Indiana with ongoing training offered on a yearly basis. Data teams review information to determine specific needs for students and ensure an intervention process is used to support students with early literacy needs.
