October Hot Dog Highlight

The FMS Fall Concert kicked off a night of food and music featuring students from FMSā€™s 7th and 8th grade classes. Performances followed in the gym featuring music from the FMS bands, choirs, and orchestras. We are looking forward to hearing their talents again at the next concert on December 13, titled ā€œSounds of the Seasonā€! Our FMS music studentsā€™ talents arenā€™t just showcased in concert, though. This past March, the 8th grade band performed at the ISSMA band contest and earned a Gold rating in the highest level of middle school competition! On top of that, our band and orchestra students who participate in the ISSMA Solo and Ensemble contest every winter have all earned Gold ratings for the past two years. We also are excited to share that this year, we have a record number of middle school musicians chosen to represent FMS in our areaā€™s All-Region Honor Band in November. This group is made up of the best middle school musicians from many local schools, and nine of ours were chosen to join this year. We are so incredibly proud of their efforts! We are so proud to be growing our music programs and offering all of these opportunities to our amazing students in Frankfort. We are especially looking forward to the new construction that was recently approved for FMS, which will give our amazing young musicians a designated performance space! -Austin King (Band Director, FMS)
